Location: Casa Marinella is located in the quaint town of Diso, midway between Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca. The house is approximately five kilometres from the Adriatic Sea.
House: Casa Marinella is a typical last-century village house, positioned just off the centre square of Diso, on a quiet, sunny street. The house is decorated with personal touches and attention to detail such as bamboo trim, polished wood and custom lighting provide finishing touches to the house.
A little gate from the street opens onto a small front porch. One enters the front door into a comfortable living room with fireplace, high vaulted ceilings and dark wood floors. This room leads directly to a dining room which has a star-shaped vaulted ceiling. One side of the dining room leads to the modern, fully equipped kitchen complete with centre island providing ample space for cooking.
A small hall off the kitchen has a large pantry and a half bathroom. At the end of this hall is the pristine, one-car garage. On the other side of the dining room is the master bedroom with window facing the terrace and a large, en-suite bathroom. A flight of curved wooden stairs from the dining room leads to a second double bedroom with vaulted ceiling. Custom furniture and closets fit into the corners of the uniquely shaped room.
There is a large full bathroom with a view over the garden. From both the dining room and the kitchen downstairs, one can access a large terrace and garden which are completely enclosed, ensuring privacy and tranquility. The outdoor area is the perfect place to dine or relax under the citrus trees.
Personal note: The owner, who lives here part of the year, completely renovated the structure and the result is a very comfortable, functional house with much light and space.
